Billy Joe Saunder’s comments about women boxing were stupid but said in jest says former foe Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan.

Saunders, who challenges for Andy Lee’s WBO middleweight title in Limerick on September 19, made some very sexiest remarks when asked about female fighting and Katie Taylor.

The English fighters remarks upset Irish fans in particular and forced a public backlash.

However, O’Sullivan a former foe of Saunders and a current friend defended the former Olympian.

Speaking to IFL TV, who Saunders often does tongue and check interviews with, ‘Spike’ condemned the comments, but did state Saunders was talking in jest and claimed the Frank Warren Promoted former British and European champion is a ‘good guy’.
