BELFAST’S Ciaran McVarnock warmed up for his bout on the massive Andy Lee vs Billy Joe Saunders Thomond Showdown card with victory in Liverpool on Saturday.

‘Bunty’ outpointed Sheffiled’s Qasim Hussain to push his record to 4-0 on a Longshots Spots card.

By all accounts it wasn’t a dream display by the 23 year old super featherweight against a negative foe on the Nightmare at Ellesmere card, but McVarnock was a clear winner and extended his unbeaten start to pro life.

The Anthony Farrell trained fighter now looks forward to a fight on the massive Stadium card in Limerick on Spetember 19.
