Unbeaten opponent in the firing line for Darren Cruise

Darren Cruise [6(0)-5(0)] hopes to return to winning ways on June 25th, and the Roscommon middleweight will have to get through an unbeaten foe if he is to do so.

The Castlerea soldier has lost two on the bounce against the current Irish super middleweight and English light heavyweight champions, JJ McDonagh and Tom Baker. In two weeks time he has the chance to post his first win in nearly a year and a half when he faces Hungary’s Ferenc Katona [3(1)-0] on the FS Promotions/Hatton Boxing show at the National Stadium.

Turning pro this year, Katona has yet to fight outside his native land, and Cruise will be aiming to dispatch the Hungarian quicker than his namesake Kerry dispatched kangaroo testicles while on ‘I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’

Cruise is one of three MHD Promotions fighters on the bill, alongside Paul Hyland Jr and Alan Donnellan, and the Connacht man is refreshing in his hunger for all-Irish fights. Indeed a win on ‘The Future’ show could perhaps even mark 26 year old Cruise out as a potential opponent down the line for bill-topper Chris Blaney.
