Tyson Fury wins The Ring Fighter of the Year award

In November he won the biggest prize in boxing, and today Tyson Fury has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Fighter of the Year’ award from the ‘Bible of Boxing’ – The Ring Magazine.

Fury, who outsmarted and outfought the long-reigning Ukarainian legend Wladimir Klitschko on away turf, beat off competition from the likes of Chocolatito Gonzalez, Gennady Golovkin, and Canelo Alvarez.

As well as the main award, the former Irish champion took home the Upset of the Year gong for his victory over Klitschko which saw him win the WBA, WBO, IBF, Ring, and Lineal heavyweight titles.

In their tribute to the Manchester-born giant, The Ring argued that, in 2015, “none shook up the sport like Fury did,” and that he has “breathed energy into a lifeless division.”

The big man seemed quite happy with the prize:

(although Ricky Hatton did win the award on 2005)
