TV title fight for Pierce ‘Big Bang’ O’Leary

Pierce O’Leary [10(6)-0] fights for a first career title next month.

The Dublin light welter was yesterday confirmed as a Zach Parker – John Ryder undercard participant and will fight for the second time under the Queensberry banner at the O2 Arena on November 26.

‘Big Bang’s’ opponent has yet to be confirmed but the Inner City Dub will fight for a title on the BT Sports broadcast bill.

The London trained prospect will trade leather for the vacant WBC International light welterweight title, which affords him the chance to boost his world ranking.

The 22-year-old goes into the fight on the back of four eye-catching stoppage wins. The reigning Irish Knockout of the Year winner has been putting together a showreel and stopped Nicugarian Robin Zamora in style last time out.

The prospect has been calling for step-ups for the last 12 months but has struggled to get opponents of note.

Presumably, the WBC requires a credible cv before they pass a fighter fit to challenge for their International title, suggesting O’Leary may just get the kind of test he wants and his form suggests he requires.
