Tommy Hyde Targets Another Good Performance in LA

Tommy Hyde is relishing the chance to write the next chapter of his career in one of boxing’s most iconic cities as he prepares to face American southpaw Vaughn Williams in Los Angeles.

The Cork super middleweight has fought around America and indeed the world since turning over and has already experienced life on the West Coast, having been based in Los Angeles.

However, his return carries far greater significance with a big opportunity awaiting him in the ring.

“It’s a massive opportunity for me to fight in such an iconic place and show the California crowd what I’m all about,” Hyde said when speaking to Kieran Doherty of the Cork Echo.

“I used to be based in Los Angeles a few years ago, so I have been to a good few boxing shows there over the years.

“It’s a city full of boxing history and champions, so I’m really excited for this one.”

Standing opposite The Guvenor will be Williams, a 13-2 southpaw who the former BUI Celtic champ believes possesses the quality required to bring the best out of him.

“I’ll be fighting American Vaughn Williams, he’s a southpaw with a record of 13-2, so he’s a good fighter who I think this will bring out the best in me.

“I travelled over to Los Angeles two weeks ago to finish off my preparations with early 5am runs for this fight and acclimatise to the time difference and now all I want to put on another good performance to further my career,” Hyde added.
