Third tier side sign former Junior International from Premier Division champions

Division 1B side Knockainey were certainly not expected to be part of one of the biggest transfer stories of the Summer.

However, the Limerick side have registered one of the transfer coups of the season.

The rural side have signed one of Limerick’s most decorated and even famous amateur footballers.

John Tierney, who was part of the invincible Janesboro team last season, has moved back to his local side.

The attacking midfielder is a former Junior International with LOI of Ireland experience having played for Limerick and Cork.

Tierney has also won all their is to win between stints at Pike and Janesboro including the FAI Junior Cup back in 2011.

The experienced player will now play third tier football and should boost Knockainey’s chances of boosting straight back up.
