‘There is going to be a lot of things I have to think about’ – Quigley reacts to devastating defeat
Jason Quigley believes changes have to be made, but to what extent yet he doesn’t know.
The Donegal fighter was forced to reflect in dept on his first career defeat for the first time when he appeared on Off The Ball on Thursday night.
The middleweight prospect revealed he hadn’t looked back on the fight in any great detail.
Indeed, the popular fighter, who won massive praise online after honest the interview, seemed to suggest it’s not something he was ready to do knowing some difficult decisions may lay ahead. Not to mention he wants to sum things up and set up a new plan in a clear frame of mind.
“I am feeling pretty positive about things,” he said a week after the defeat to Tureano Johnson.
“As positive as I can be about things. It was a major set back in my career to get that loss against Tureano and it’s something I haven’t really sat down and thought on 100 percent.
“There are going to be a lot of things I have to think about and there are going to be a lot of things I have to address and I want to do that at the right time and when everything is a bit more settled.”
Since the reverse questions have been asked by some high profile boxing people with regard to the team surrounding the Donegal man -something he suggested he was disappointed with- and changes in management and coaching have been floated.
With regard to coaching Quigley wasn’t to be overly drawn on whether that was the issue – and genuinely seems not to have thought about too much since the reverse.
“We did the best we could in training camp. Dominic gave me a game plan. I tried to stick to it to the best of my ability and that was trying to box to Tureano. I feel out of the game plan to early in the fight. There are definitely things I need to look at and definitely changes I need to make and I will do them in the next couple of weeks.”
