Bigger and Better – The Irish-Boxing.com Awards 2016

Tomorrow morning we will begin to release the nominations for the second annual Irish-Boxing.com Awards.

This year we have added four further categories to give us a total of 20 awards. Starting tomorrow, four categories will be released a day and voting will stay open until midnight on Friday December 30th, with the winners being announced on New Year’s Eve.

While the winners will be decided by the public vote, Irish-Boxing.com editors Jonny Stapleton and Joe O’Neill will also release their picks.

The four new categories are:
Club of the Year
Breakthrough of the Year
Youth/Junior Boxer of the Year
The Muhammad Ali Wild Goose of the Year

In addition, we have also renamed our Opponent of the Year award in honour of the recently deceased Alejandro Gonzalez Jr, who was tragically murdered earlier this month.

The schedule for the release of nominations are:

Monday December 19th
The Kevin McBride Shock of the Year
The Fighting Irish Photo of the Year
The Muhammad Ali Wild Goose of the Year
The Micky Ward Round of the Year

Tuesday December 20th
Show of the Year
The Alejandro González Jr Opponent of the Year
Youth/Junior Boxer of the Year
The Steve Collins Warrior of the Year

Wednesday December 21st
The @paddyb_ireland Social Media Star of the Year
The Eamonn Magee Jr Prospect of the Year
The Barney Eastwood Manager/Promoter of the Year
KO of the Year

Thursday December 22nd
Breakthrough of the Year
Comeback of the Year
The John Duddy Fight of the Year
Club of the Year

Friday December 23rd
The Rinty Monaghan Fighter of the Year
Moment of the Year
The Paddy Hyland Sr Trainer of the Year
The Wayne McCullough Performance of the Year
