Spike to gatecrash Ogogo fight this weekend
Spike O’Sullivan [23(15)-2(1)] will appear on a Sky Sports boxing card this weekend – and while he doesn’t have a fight scheduled, fans can expect some verbal sparring at the very least.
The Cork middleweight plans to gatecrash Anthony Ogogo’s fight on the Frankie Gavin v San Eggington undercard at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.
Ogogo faces local light middleweight Craig Cunningham [16(3)-1(0)] on the ‘Bragging Rights’ bill.
The Leesider is aiming for a fight with 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Ogogo [11(7)-0] following the Norwich boxer name-dropping him in an interview earlier this year.
Ogogo has since sought to distance himself from the O’Sullivan match-up as the Irishman has ratcheted up a social media campaign to force the fight. With Ogogo being seemingly unbudged, and now citing O’Sullivan’s inability to box for the British title, a face-to-face meeting this Saturday (and the associated publicity) may help force the fight for the Celtic Rebel.
O’Sullivan told Sky Sports that “I’ll definitely be turning up.”
“Mr Oh-no-no, the dancing queen, will definitely be looking over his shoulder.”
