Sensational knockout Shock of the Year for JJ McDonagh on Matchroom card

Mullingar’s JJ McDonagh has pulled off one of the biggest shocks of recent years this evening in London.

The Irish super middleweight champion stepped up to light heavyweight to face Matchroom starlet Jake Ball on the ‘Big City Dreams’ card at the Wembley Arena.

10/1 before the fight, the Assassin Boxing fighter made a mockery of any pre-fight predictions with a quick-fire KO win.

Brought in as a test for the youngster, the Westmeath man sensationally stopped Ball in the opening round of their WBA International title fight, near knocking his opponent unconscious.

The stunning victory sees McDonagh move to 14(7)-3(1), while the shell-shocked Ball drops to 7(6)-1(1).
