Second Coming step up in class confirmed for Declan Geraghty
Declan Geraghty [9(2)-1(0)] continues moving through the ranks this Saturday on the ‘Second Coming’ bill at the National Stadium. Fighting over 8 rounds for the first time, the Dublin super featherweight takes on Spanish-based Nicaraguan Reynaldo Cajina [14(10)-28(6)-5].
Durable and packing a punch, the Central American last week held 16-0 Scottish prospect Michael Robert to a draw and has previously fought the likes of Stephan Jamoye, Ryan Walsh, Tshifiwa Munyai, and Martin Ward. Cajina also holds a first round KO win over Anthony Settoul – a former French and EU champion who this year fought Nonito Donaire in Macau.
However, last time Cajina fought an Irishman it did not end well for him, being knocked out in the second round against Ryan Burnett back in 2013 on the Frampton-Parodi undercard at the Odyssey Arena.
Pretty Boy Geraghty will be hoping to make it an unsuccessful return to these shores for the Nicaraguan by putting on another boxing clinic at the historic South Circular Road venue.
Tickets are available from the boxers involved and tickets.ie. ‘Second Coming’’ will also be shown exclusively live on Boxnation from 5pm (Sky channel 437).
