Date confirmed for Carl Frampton homecoming fight
Carl Frampton [23(14)-1(0)] has confirmed the date for his homecoming fight in Belfast this Summer.
The two-weight world champion is returning to the ring following his WBA featherweight title loss to Leo Santa Cruz in Las Vegas in January, ending a two and a half year wait for a fight in his home city.
‘The Jackal’ would confirm on social media this morning that the fight will take place in the Titanic City on Saturday July 29th.
This date has been circulating for a while now, but Frampton would cool talk following reports of this being the date, including one from Irish-Boxing.com.
A venue and opponent are still to be confirmed – although Frampton has long spoken of having the fight at Windsor Park football stadium.
A press conference with opponent and ticket details will take place at some stage next week.
July 29th – keep it free. I can’t wait to box @ home! Presser will be in the next week & tix will go on sale straight after #Homecoming 👊
