Second Coming Countdown: Jamie Kavanagh

MGM return to Ireland this weekend and, ahead of the massive ‘Second Coming’ show at the National Stadium, irish-boxing.com is profiling all the Irish fighters who will be in action.

With just one day to go, we take a look at lightweight star Jamie Kavanagh [19(9)-1(1)-1].

The former Golden Boy star has returned to Europe after five years stateside and makes his Irish professional debut in his home town at the National Stadium.

‘Nuisance’ has everything needed to be a big star. Great skills honed as an amateur, where he won World Youth silver in 2008, mixed with an exciting come-forward fighting style developed from fighting endless Mexican’s during his stint in the U.S.

Now with MGM, the Dubliner will be looking to put his experience to good use and put himself quickly into title contention.

Tomorrow Kavanagh faces the rough and tough Oskar Fiko [14(10)-12(6)] over eight rounds, and will have to be alert against the game Hungarian fighter.
