Second Amateur club left without a home

A second amateur club has confirmed they are without a home.

In the space of 24 hours both St Teresa’s BC and Tullow Boxing Club have confirmed they have been ‘evicted’.

Bray outfit Teresa’s revealed there now old premises was being sold by the landlord and as a result there fighters will have to travel nigh on 30kms to take up Rathnew’s offer of a place to train.

Tullow’s situation is somewhat different. They claim there landlord ‘refused to freeze’ rents during the current lockdown.

Without any income the club can’t afford to meet the rent demands and thus are homeless.

Tullow revealed the news on social media, a statement read:

Due to the coronavirus pandemic we had to close the boxing club doors in March.

The landlord refused to freeze our rent and the club could not afford to pay it. We are asking the people of Tullow Town for your help to find a premises suitable for a boxing club.

Anyone that donated to the gofundme account will have their money returned. We are all devastated as you can imagine but unfortunately it is out of our hands. Everything we have done has been on a voluntary basis.

Tullow had recently set up aĀ GoFundMeĀ page to help ease their rent concerns.
