Rigondeaux tells Frampton vacating is the cowards way out

Guillermo Rigondeaux has once again questioned the courage of Carl Frampton.

The mandatory challenger for the WBA title Frampton picked up with a points win over Scott Quigg on Saturday night last says if ‘The Jackal’ opts to vacate rather than face him he will be taking the ‘cowards’ option.

The Cuban, who fights Jazza Dickons in Liverpool this month and was stripped of the WBO and WBA title for inactivity, has been taunting the IBF and WBA title holder since his victory in Manchester in a bid to secure a clash with the Belfast star.

Upon hearing Frampton may be leaning toward a clash with Shingo Wake or Leo Santa Cruz the two time Olympian said

“Real boxing fans shouldn’t have love for fake champs,” said the former unified champion. “Vacating a title is the coward way out. Are you a coward Carl Frampton?”

Considering Frampton has two separate mandatory challengers for his two titles means Shingo Wake could make the same argument if the Cyclone star was to face ‘Rigo’.

‘The Jackal’ has to make a title choice and the IBF seems the more note worthy at present considering the WBA have iterim, regular, super and even World champions in recess.

Frampton has stated he would like to fight the Cuban, but his team feel there are more lucrative options out there for the 29 year old.
