The Matthew Macklin headlined show in the National Stadium on August 30th is OFF.
The decision was taken following shooting of Macklin’s trainer Jamie Moore in Spain over the weekend.
Macklin said “I am disappointed to have to postpone my fight but in the light of the circumstances and the disruption to my preparation it is the right thing to do. “Every fight at this stage in my career is of huge importance and being 100 per cent for the night is vital. We will make an announcement shortly on a new date and I look forward to fighting in Dublin in 2014.”
The show is being postponed and Macklin’s promoter Eddie Hearn will look to find another later date for his Irish comeback at a bigger venue – most likely the O2.
Hearn had said at the Return of the Mack press conference last week that provisional bookings had been made for the O2 in November so it is possible that the show will be rescheduled around this time.
Any tickets purchased for the Dublin show on through Matchroom Boxing will be automatically refunded to the card holder.
