RESULTS – The Fantasy Irish Boxing Super Series (FIBSS) – The Little Men

Legends collided as Fantasy Irish Boxing Super Series continued today with our best tournament yet.

It was the turn of the ‘little men’ to see who would follow Andy Lee, Carl Frampton, Eamonn Magee and Michael Carruth as FIBSS champion

Borrowing from the game-changing World Boxing Super Series format, eight fighters were virtually pitted against each other in a single-elimination knockout tournament.

After a day of polls, undefeated world champion and Belfast legend Rinty Monaghan came out on top.

Monaghan defeated fellow world champion Dave McAuley in the final on the narrowest of margins after the pair came through a field that also included Hugh Russell, Damaen Kelly, Tommy Waite, Paddy Barnes, Jamie Conlan, and Davy Larmour.

Starting in the quarter finals, Monaghan and McAuley scored knockouts of Waite and Conlan respectively. Kelly would edge Barnes on a split while Russell stopped Larmour in their hypothetical rubber match.

Monaghan romped to a stoppage over Kelly in the semis while it was a unanimous decision win for McAuley over Russell.

That all led to a Battle of the World Champions in the final, McAuley v Monaghan.

The closest decider yet went the way of Rinty who squeaked home over Dave Boy on a 51% to 49% split decision in the final poll.
