Picture perfect! Tommy McCarthy’s historic European title win in pictures

Tommy McCarthy became Ireland’s fifteenth European champion tonight.

‘The Mack Attack’ joined the likes of Rinty Monaghan, Charlie Nash, Barry McGuigan, Willie Casey, James Tennyson and Carl Frampton on the Irish blue belt winning list after securing victory Oleksandr Usyk v Dereck Chisora pay-per-view undercard.

The Belfast talent defeated game Belgian Bilal Laggoune on a majority decision to pick up the vacant continental cruiserweight crown following a nip-and-tuck fight at the Wembley Arena.

The 29-year-old won via a 114-114, 116-112, 116-113 scorecard to become Ireland’s first ever black European champion.
