Patrick Hyland to fight next month – one win away from a title shot

Dublin featherweight Patrick ‘Pajo’ Hyland [30(14)-1(0)] will be back in the ring next month as he looks to make an assault on titles.

The popular Jobstown fighter will once again trade leather Stateside, and told irish-boxing.com that he is currently preparing for an October date that will be confirmed in the next day or two.

Hyland, 32 next week, last fought in March – when he headlined the Madison Square Garden Theatre, scoring a fourth round knock-out over Manuel De Los Reyes Herrera.

The Dubliner’s promoter, Lou DiBella, has a plan in place where ‘The Punisher’ will fight next month in a warm-up before challenging for a title in his next fight.

For the fight, Hyland will once again be trained by esteemed coach, Tracy Patterson, as well as receiving guidance from his brother Eddie. His training is being facilitated by Gavin Sinclair of Mobile Plant Glass.

While unconfirmed, Hyland’s upcoming bout could perhaps be part of the massive Murphy’s Boxing card that is scheduled for Boston on October 10th and features Gary O’Sullivan and Stephen Ormond.
