There is a busy Saturday night this weekend for Irish boxers in Britain, and below we take a look at the men who will be in the opposite corner.

Bellahouston Leisure Centre, Glasgow
Declan Geraghty [12(3)-2(0)] – Super Featherweight
Pretty Boy faces Frenchman Dame Seck [10(1)-13(2)-2] over eight rounds
– Record: Challenged unsuccessfully for the French title earlier this year. On his two previous visits to Britain he was stopped by Ohara Davies, but gave Craig Evans lots of trouble in an eight rounder in 2014.
– Style: Looks to bob and weave to get inside and unload with short shots.
– Video: His stoppage loss to O’Hara Davies last year.
– Verdict: A very game and solid opponent for Geraghty’s step up to eight rounds.
A good opponent.

Stephen Ormond [21(11)-2(0)] – Light Welterweight
The Rock takes on Hungarian Zoltan Szabo [11(5)-1(1)] over six rounds.
– Record: Stopped by Ohara Davies earlier this year but has upset unbeaten prospects Ilhami Aydemir and Zack Davies on away soil.
– Style: A mover, likes to stay on outside and throws plenty of long straight shots.
– Video: His ten-round points win in Germany over Ilhami Aydemir [then 11(7)-0]. 
– Verdict: A decent comeback fight for Ormond on his MGM debut and first fight as a fully-fledged light welter.
A good opponent

Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke
Chris Blaney [2(1)-0] – Super Middleweight
The Ginger Ninja takes on Stoke light heavy Mark Till [3(2)-22(4)-2] over four rounds.
– Record: A regular opponent for prospects early in their careers. Was outpointed over four by JJ McDonagh last year.
– Style: Tentative with a tough to penetrate tight card. Doesn’t generally throw much
– Video: A points loss to Nicolie Campbell last year.
– Verdict: A durable journeyman likely to be spurred on by fighting in his home town for the first time.
A good opponent.

Old Trafford, Manchester
Con Sheehan [2(0)-0] – Heavyweight
Con The Bomb fights Czechian Radek Varak [3(1)-5(2)] over eight rounds.
– Record: Was knocked out by Mike Tyson-defeater Danny Williams last year but recently upset debutant Lee Carter.
– Style: Comes to win. Very busy and likes to paw out the double jab. Throws the occasional wild haymaker.
– Video: His win over Lee Carter.
– Verdict: A step up to eight rounds very early for Sheehan against a confident opponent.
A good opponent.

Matty Mainwaring [3(0)-0] – Middleweight
Mainwaring faces Manchester-based Portuguese fighter Yailton Neves [0-5(1)] over four rounds.
– Record: Only turned pro this year. Went the distance with Matchroom starlet Felix Cash.
– Style: Very awkward. Looks to shell up, hold, and survive.
– Video: His loss to Felix Cash in June.
– Verdict: A durable opponent for the novice boxer to continue learning against

York Hall, London
John O’Donnell [30(11)-2(1)] – Welterweight
The London-based Galwegian challenges Tommy Tear [13(1)-1(0)] for the vacant BBBoC Southern Area Title.
– Record: Has lost his only fight that wasn’t against a journeyman – being outpointed by Tamuka Mucha earlier this year in a a challenge for the same belt.
– Style: Has a nice, if under-utilised, jab and a decent range of shots. Can be outworked and drawn into a fight
– Video: A points win over the durable Ryan Hardy.
– Verdict: A title fight for the long-inactive O’Donnell.
A good opponent.

Aarron Morgan [11(8)-0] – Light Middleweight
The Marksman fights Hungarian Laszlo Fazekas [30(18)-25(3)-1] over six rounds.
– Record: Upset English prospect Zak Collins in 2014 and generally goes the distance – including bouts with Paulie Malignaggi, David Avanesyan, and John O’Donnell.
– Style: Sharp jab, slippery, and a potent punch to be wary of.
– Video: A points loss to Kasper Bruun.
– Verdict: A career-best opponent for Morgan.
