Opponent named for TJ Doheny’s Monster Brawl headline bout
World title-chasing Portlaoise super bantamweight TJ Doheny [15(11)-0] headlines the Murphy’s Boxing Monster Brawl in two weeks time and will face Mexican opposition.
Doheny will box over eight rounds on the card at the Memorial Hall in Melrose, Massachusetts, and will take on Ernesto Guerrero [22(15)-19(13)] on the Hallowe’en-themed card which also features Niall Kennedy, Steve Collins Jr, and Paddy Irwin.
‘Molito’ Guerrero has faced a number of contenders during his six-year career, usually being stopped. The 27 year old, who hails from the border town of Agua Prieta has been knocked out early by current IBF 122lbs champ Jonathan Guzman, Carl Frampton foe Raul Hirales, and Doheny’s promotional stablemate Ryan Kielczweski, as well as going the distance with recent IBF bantamweight title challenger Ivan Morales.
‘The Power’ Doheny, who turns 30 next month, will be hoping for a similarly quick win as he continues his quest for a World title fight. The Laois fighter is currently World-ranked with both the WBA (#8) and IBF (#14), and wants a title fight as soon as possible.
