Opponent named for Craig O’Brien comeback fight

Light middleweight Craig O’Brien [3(0)-0] will make his return to the ring later this month after over 17 months out.

The likeable Dub is set to feature on the Red Corner Promotions ‘Unfinished Business’ card at the National Stadium on Saturday February 25th.

Despite being out of action for almost a year and a half, O’Brien will make the step up to six rounds on the bill in a prominent undercard bout.

His opponent for his comeback bout will be stocky Spaniard Jorge Vallejo [1(0)-2(0)].

The Basque Country 30 year old is a relentless, if somewhat raw, pressure fighter and will give ‘The Iron’ the chance to play matador to the bull.

On his debut, ‘Tiburón’ survived a knockdown to narrowly edge Avelino Vazquez – who himself will face Noely Murphy on the same card. Since then the Iberian has lost twice on points on the road.

The fight later this month will be dependent on Vallejo coming through a fight next weekend in his home city of Oyón unscathed.

Also set to feature on the Luke Keeler v Lewis Taylor-headlined card are Allan Phelan, Eric Donovan, Chris Blaney, Lynn Harvey, Stevie Collins, Connor Coyle, Jay Byrne, Steve Collins Jr, and debutant Thomas Finnegan.
