One step at a time for Wilton as he goes back to work in the Holiday Inn Friday

THE plan is simple for Matthew Wilton- win tomorrow, move up the rankings and move onto the next challenge.

The bigger little brother of British and European flyweight title hopeful Luke Wilton takes on fellow light welterweight Lewie O’Mara in the Holiday Inn and is employing the one step at a time mantra.

The undefeated Belfast fighter is in no rush and is happy to build his record while learning his trade.

“I fight Lewie O’ Mara he is a southpaw and above me in the Boxrec ratings so the plan is to beat him take his spot and move onto the next one,” Wilton told Irish-boxing.com.

“I had four fights in 2013 and I am looking to remain unbeaten this year and move up the rankings. I am in no rush and I am learning my trade. It is great to get my first fight of 2014 and I cannot wait to get started,” he added when speaking to the Belfast Newsletter.

“Training went well I’ve had plenty of sparring with good guys, such as Eamonn O’Kane and Alex Bazza.”
