EAMONN O’Kane could effectively be one win away from a coveted World title shot.
The IBF have sent the Derry favourite a letter offering him the chance to fight Tuereano Johnson (18-1-1) for the right to become mandatory challenger for the middleweight version of their World strap.
Victory in that clash would put the former Commonwealth gold medal winner next in line for current champ David Lemiuex, who buckled the title around his waist after an impressive display against the Gary Hyde managed Hassan N’Dam last week.
There has been no comment on the possible clash from Team O’Kane, but boxingscene report Gary Shaw will accept the clash on for Johnson.
O’Kane had been linked with fellow Irish middleweight Gary O’Sullivan, but the Johnson clash should prove to hard to turn down.
