Noely Murphy to fight on big world title undercard

Cork’s Noely Murphy [7(2)-0] is due to make his Irish debut on the February 25th Red Corner show in Dublin – but the Macroom welter has secured himself another big fight before this.

The Lou DiBella-promoted puncher has been handed a spot on the undercard of the James DeGale v Badou Jack super middleweight world title unification on Saturday January 14th at the Barclays Centre in New York.

The Rebel 22 year old will box in a six round contest against a to-be-confirmed opponent.

It’s certainly shaping up to be a busy start to 2017 for Murphy who has endured a somewhat frustrating past 12 months.

The New York-based boxer fought twice in 2016 but also saw numerous dates fall through.

Chief support on the night comes from IBF super featherweight champion Jose Pedraza, who defends against Gervonta Davis.
