Belfast’s Joe Fitzpatrick [6(4)-0] will round off 2016 with two fights inside a month.

The Divis lightweight fought on Saturday in Dublin on the Red Corner Promotions ‘Inception’ show, and will return to the National Stadium on December 5th on the FS Promotions ‘History in the Making’ card.

The Commonwealth Games silver medalist will be hoping to make it a happy birthday for himself on the night, with the Immaculata man turning 22 the day previous.

The fight on the undercard to Christina McMahon’s WBA super flyweight World title challenge against Linda Laura Lecca will be Fitzpatrick’s fourth of 2016.

‘The Dragon’ began the year with an embarrassingly easy knockout of Ruslans Berdimuradovs in February before a hard fought win, in which he momentarily touched down, against Jordan Ellison in June. On Saturday he comfortably outpointed Gyula Tallosi at the home of Irish boxing.

Fitzpatrick steps up to six rounds for the first time on the card, which will be shown live on ‘It’s A-Bout Boxing.’

All going well next month, the southpaw will be out again on February 4th on the scheduled MHD Promotions show at the Europa Hotel.

The undercard on December 5th will also feature Jay Byrne, Bernard Roe, Allan Phelan, Carl McDonald, and Fitzpatrick’s MHD stablemate Paul Hyland Jr, with more to be announced.
