‘Never been better’- Dylan Moran ultra positive despite recent defeat
A lucrative career as a positive mental attitude guru may just await Dylan Moran [10(5)-1(1)] after he hangs up his gloves.
The Waterford native seen his debut American dream turn into a nightmare when he was defeated by Dennis Okoth in Catskills Casino in late June.
‘The Real Deal’ traveled Stateside hoping to register a win that would start a new exciting next level era of his career only to see his Star Boxing end in a stoppage.
The reverse and particularly the platform it played out on may have set some fighters back particularly in terms of belief, motivation and confidence.
However, the 24-year-old is adamant he has never felt better. The Dungarvan native has taken the defeat on the chin as well as taken the lessons needed from a defeat that looks less damaging considering the Olympian stopped another prospect a month later.
The Deise fighter admitted to Irish-boxing.com directly after the fight he was emotionally fragile directly post the fight, but it seems he hasn’t been long about refocusing and isn’t dwelling on the stoppage defeat.
Speaking to Irish-boxing.com this week the fighter, who follows up a Mexican return with a ‘He Who Dares’ October 25 Devenish clash, Moran was full of the joys of life.
“I’ve never been better. I got straight back in the gym kept positive and I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring. It’s boxing, it happens, you learn and move on . There’s no excuses I had trained hard and just got caught besides the result I lived the dream that week and can’t wait to go back there and back into another big fight.”
The busy welterweight is hoping at another crack at America around November time.
He is expecting the kind of tests promoter Joe Guardia promised when he returns and thus would like a tough enough warm up in Belfast.
Spain’s Johnny Vina [9(2)-4(2)] is the man he wants, but boxrec has him down to face Pal Olah [9)7)-26(8)-3].
“The plan is Mexico then Belfast and Star are saying they want me back to New York in November, so a busy few months ahead,” he adds before commenting on a potential Belfast foe. .
“We have put the fight to Johnny Vina from Spain. It’s just about waiting on answer now, but I want a good test to get me ready for America in November.”
Before Belfast is Mexico for a second time and it’s an experience he is looking forward to repeating.
“I can’t wait. It’s a crazy place over there and I’m excited to go back visit a few gyms. I am also excited to get back to winning ways. The whole Mexico trip is some experience.”
