Murrihy-McCormack weighs in against Taylor- World champ could win first Irish title in the ring

Katie Taylor may be afforded the chance to claim an Irish title in the ring for the first time in her illustrious career this year.

The Bray BC woman has earned a reputation as the best female fighter on the planet claim 18 major gold medals over a distinguished career, including 5 World titles and Olympic gold.

The London 2012 gold medal winner has four Irish titles on her much decorated mantle piece but has won each of the domestic straps via walkover as no Irish fighters weighed in against her.

However, Clare’s Kayleigh Murrihy-McCormack has entered Taylor’s 60kg weight class for this years Elites which begin Friday at the National Stadium in Dublin.

McCormack, 21, won intermediate honours in 2013 and has a number of underage titles and she has now elected to test herself against the World best in the Irish championships.
