Moylette kicks things off for team Ireland this year

Ray Moylette will be the first Irish boxer in competitive action this year in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday.

The 2011 European Elite champion meets Turkey’s Gozgec Batuhan in AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) at the Olympic Sports Complex.

Saturday’s four-bout card will feature a World Championship headline fight between Turkey’s Adem Kilicci and Russia’s Artem Chebotarev.

Kilicci is defending the title he won last year. Moylette, who was selected by the International Boxing Association for Istanbul, meets Batuhan over six rounds.

The weigh-ins will be held tomorrow.
