Matchroom and Sky Sports to return to Dublin in December?

Rumours are circulating that Eddie Hearn will be returning to Dublin with his Matchroom Boxing roadshow and the HD Sky Sports cameras.

Hearn last did a show in the capital in November 2014 when Matthew Macklin suffered a tenth round stoppage defeat at the hands of Argentinian danger-man Jorge Heiland. The same night also invigorated the careers of Jono Carroll, Luke Keeler, and Spike O’Sullivan, who all impressed on the undercard.

The rumours of Sky’s 2015 return stem from Matthew Macklin. The 33 year old, three-time world title challenger, spoke to Sun Sports’s Kev Byrne after his impressive first round knockout of Chris Herrmann in Marbella at the weekend.

Macklin, who faces Jason Welborn [17(6)-3(3)] in Birmingham on October 24th in a light middleweight contest, revealed that he is scheduled to return to the fair city at the end of the year, saying that “I think I’m out again in December in Dublin.”

This admission has cranked the boxing rumour mill into gear and Irish fight fans are now hoping for another ‘Return of the Mack.’
