It has been announced this afternoon that Frampton and Santa Cruz will engage in a whistle-stop two-city press tour to promote their rematch on January 28th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. First up is Belfast on Tuesday (November 29th), before a trip to Santa Cruz’s home city of Los Angeles on Thursday (December 1st).
An exact time and venue for the press conference in Belfast, which will be open to the public, has yet to be announced.
Frampton’s last press conference in Belfast saw an electric atmosphere at the Europa Hotel for the final leg of the Frampton v Quigg press tour, with the upstairs of the venue being packed out by the vociferous ‘Jackal Army.’
The press tour marks a change from the lead-up to their first fight. Back then Santa Cruz requested a press conference in LA but was unwilling to travel to New York or Belfast in return and thus there was no advanced press tour. Frampton subsequently won a fight of the year contender in New York, taking the WBA featherweight title, and the rematch promises to be an even bigger affair.
