Katie Taylor OFF Andy Lee Thomond undercard

In some highly disappointing news, it has been today announced that Irish amateur legend, Katie Taylor, will not appear on the undercard of Andy Lee’s WBO title defence in Thomond Park, Limerick.

Taylor had confirmed last Friday that she would be appearing on the 34,000 capacity stadium bill next month, however it seems like a deal could not be finalised.

A clamour around a Taylor support act grew recently after sexist remarks made by challenger Billy Joe Saunders, and general indifference from Frank Warren.

In a press release, Taylor’s managerial company, Devlin Sports, stated that “It is with great regret that Katie Taylor will not be taking part on the Andy Lee Undercard at Thomond Park on September 19th. We would like to wish Andy all the best”

Commenting on the revelation, Lee’s promoter-manager-trainer Adam Booth a that “We believe we did everything we could to make this event happen but unfortunately on this occasion, the outcome was not to be.”
