Joyce edged out in APB debut

David Oliver Joyce lost on his AIBA Pro Boxing (APB) debut to Kazakhstan’s AIBA World No. 2 ranked lightweight Berik Abdrakhmanov in Astana, Kazakhstan today.

Abdrakhmanov, who lost to Joyce in the Chemistry Cup final in Germany this year, claimed a majority decision (58-56,58-56,57-57). Click here for 60kg results.

Tyrone ref Michael Gallagher was the third man in the ring for today’s top of the bill six-rounder.

Charly Suarez beat former AIBA World champion Domenico Valentino in the opening fight. Donato Conceicao and Hurshid Tojibaev also won on the four-fight card in Astana.

Joe Ward will make his APB debut at around 7pm (Irish time) this evening versus Russian light-heavy Nikita Ivanov in Sofia, Bulgaria.
