Jamie Cox willing to fight ANY of the current champions
Swindon fighter Jamie Cox [20(12)-0] should have been in Germany tonight for a fight.
The super middleweight of Donegal descent was due to fight on the undercard of the Marco Huck v Ovill McKenzie in Frankfurt but the show has been shelved due to McKenzie’s withdrawal through illness.
It’s been a frustrating year for the highly-rated Cox who has not fought since last November, where he knocked out Ferenc Albert inside a round at the National Stadium in Dublin.
30 last month, Cox has now issued an open challenge to the World champions in his division a well as any of his domestic rivals.
The current champions in the 168lbs class are Badou Jack (WBC), James Degale (IBF), and Gilberto Ramirez (WBO), while the WBA situation is up in the air with champion Felix Sturm currently facing a criminal probe due to a failed drugs test. In Britain there is also the likes of Callum Smith, George Groves, Martin Murray, Lee Markham, and Luke Blackledge.
When asked on Boxnation who he would like to fight in the division, the confident Cox claimed: “put them in a hat and pick out a luck ball and I’ll fight him.”
“Put them in a hat and I’ll fight any of them.”
