Ormond versus winner of Flanagan Matthews world title fight is ‘natural fit’ says Promoter
Stephen Ormond doesn’t just deserve a shot at the winner of the WBO lightweight World title fight between former foes Terry Flanagan and Derry Matthews the fight is a natural fit, claim his promoters Murphy’s boxing.
Ormond, who a lot of Irish fight fans believe hasn’t been afforded the opportunities his performances and talent deserve, has faced both champion Flanagan and challenger Matthew in the past.
‘The Rock’ defeated Liverpool’s Matthews, but was disqualified against Manchester’s Flanagan.
The Dublin is keen to get a World title shot in 2016 and his promoters released a statement today suggesting they would pursuing the winner of the February 13 World title fight.
There has been talk of other avenues toward a World title for the lightweight, who fights in Dublin on February 6, but his team believe a rematch with either of the WBO world title fight participants is ideal.

“If this comes against Flanagan or Mathews, then great. If those guys donât want to see Stephen in the ring again, then weâll get it done against someone elseâ, said Ken Casey of Murphyâs Boxing.
âStephen is willing to fight anyone and has shown he deserves to be in the big fights. February 6th is just the start of the year Stephen becomes world champion.â concluded Casey.
