Jamie Conlan backs Deise Mexican Tiana Schroeder to Breakout at Ulster Hall

Tiana Schroeder’s Ulster Hall clash this weekend is more than just a fight; it’s a pivotal moment in her career, according to Jamie Conlan.

The Conlan Sports boss believes a good performance on the Unleashed card will unleash the prospect onto the radar of the wider Irish fight fan.

The former world title challenger also believes victory over Ana Acevedo in the WBA ranking title fight will propel the 23-year-old toward world level.

The Mexican- Canadian is known within boxing circles due to the fact that she is Irish-based, Irish-managed, and Irish-coached. Yet Irish fans may not to much about her as of yet. Conlan tells Irish-boxing.com that’s about to change.

“She is under the radar, and I think this is the chance and the opportunity. This is her massive breakout moment,” he says.

“This is her moment to kind of go, ‘Right, here I am. I’m going to do a number on this girl,’ who’s again very, very experienced, seasoned operator, has been in there mixing it at top level,” he adds before suggesting a good performance may open up avenues to big backing and big fights.

“If Tiana can do the job that we’re all fully expecting her to do, it’s a major kind of carrot for everyone else to go, ‘Right, come and get this girl. She is the next big thing.’”

Explaining why he thinks the boxer who has been adopted by Waterford is a star in the making he points to her technical ability and fan friendly approach.

“When you sit down and watch Tiana, you don’t think of her as a good female fighter. You actually think of her as a really, really good fighter, really entertaining fighter,” he continues.

“She transcends kind of the barrier of male and female, where you just watch her and you’re watching her as a real, real good inside fighter, real good boxer. She’s very, very smart. Her boxing brain and boxing knowledge are top class. She looks very young. She looks very immature, but she’s mature beyond her years. Her ring generalship is top clas. She punches and fights like a seasoned pro, and she’s still only a novice in the game. But this is her big test.”
