Irish Tim wins Canadian title – targets Irish belt
Irish-Canadian light heavyweight Tim Cronin made it a birthday to remember last night in Toronto with a Canadian title win.
Cronin, whose ancestors hail from Cork and Kerry, took on the previously undefeated Nathan ‘Timberwolf’ Miller [9(7)-1(0)-2] over eight rounds at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto.
In a competitive contest, Cronin came away with a unanimous decision points (77:75 x2, 78:74) win.
The Belleville boxer turned 33 on Saturday, and had told Irish-Boxing.com before his last bout about his Canadian title ambitions.
The well-supported light heavyweight, who moves to 9(2)-1(0)-1 with the win, will now look to kick on following his maiden title – and hinted afterwards at a desire to fight for the Irish title, saying that “we’re going to get the green belt after this!”
