Intriguing all-Irish fight made for Celtic Clash 3

Forget letting it build, two Irish prospects are ready to go to war in the fledgling stage of their careers.

At a time were most are learning their trade against journeyman opposition, something many promoters, trainers and managers will argue is the right thing to do, novice pros Regan Buckley and Carl McDonald have agreed to trade leather.

The new to the pro scene duo will battle out over six rounds on the Celtic Clash 3-: Building Champions card in the National Stadium on September 9th

Considering it’s only McDonald’s third pro outing and Buckley’s second it’s an unusual pairing in terms of all Irish fights, but it will certainly see both fighters’ profiles raise.

There will be those who will claim the match up has been made too early, yet while there is a risk element involved it’s not as high as some people make out and the reward for the winner is substantial.

With so many Irish fighters with pro boxing licenses at present this is the kind of exciting clash we could see a lot more of in the coming years.

Speaking to Irish-Boxing.com Stephen Sharpe of Boxing Ireland Promotions explained.

“In a division where there is very little domestic competition and a scarcity of opponents across Europe at that weight, both lads have taken the brave decision of facing each other at this time in their careers.”
“This is a win win for both lads who regardless of the result can increase their profile while progressing to contend for domestic title in the near future.”
“We are delighted to announce such a competitive undercard fight and are in the process of agreeing a number of exciting Headline fights to the bill, some of which will be announced in the coming days.”
