Gone in 60 seconds – Ormond blows away opposition on explosive Murphy’s debut

Dublin lightweight Stephen Ormond had a dream debut tonight for Murphy’s Boxing in Massachusetts. Fighting in the Lowell Memorial Auditorium near Boston, ‘The Rock’ took less than a minute, 49 seconds to be exact, to destroy faded former World title challenger Michael Clark.

The bout also marked the debut of Ormond under influential U.S adviser Al Haymon – who will have been impressed by the vicious nature of Ormond’s attacking prowess.

32 year old Ormond’s record now reads 19(10)-2(0) while 42 year old Clark falls to 44(18)-14(11) and should seriously consider retirement following his sixth straight stoppage loss.

Ormond will fight again in Boston on October 30th as he looks to be fast-tracked into World title contention. While the Clondalkin man was disgruntled under the banner of Frank Warren, he will now be licking his lips at the prospect of regular fights in America with Murphy’s Boxing alongside his Celtic Warriors gym mate Gary O’Sullivan – who also had an early stoppage win tonight
