Gary Sweeney showed this afternoon that he has real power with a stoppage win over Marek Gabor.

The Galway cruiser was the bill opener at the Cardiff Boxnation show at the Ice Arena.

Fighting a Slovak opponent who had never been stopped before, Sweeney brought a halt to the bout after multiple knockdowns in the third of four scheduled rounds.

‘The Gallant’s’ bout was part of the untelevised segment of the undercard in Wales, but highlights of the clash are expected to be shown later tonight.

The win sees the Ballinrobe man move his record to 2(2)-0, while the winless Gabor drops to 0-6(1).
