Froch in Mayo

Legend has it that St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland but a venomous Cobra has been spotted in County Mayo.

British boxer Carl The Cobra Froch has decided to base himself at the Breaffy House Resort in Castlebar as he prepares for the fight of his life a bid for the WBC World Super Middleweight title in his native Nottingham on December 6.

The fight which is being promoted by Hennessy Sports will be broadcast live on ITV 1 and is expected to attract an audience of millions across the UK and Ireland and Froch has promised to be in the shape of his life courtesy of his five week training camp in the West.

The undefeated British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion takes on unbeaten Canadian Jean Pascal next month and has been training in Castlebar since October.

Speaking of the reasons for setting up camp in Ireland Froch said, I felt it was important to get away from home comforts to prepare for the biggest fight of my career to date so I decided to leave England and come to Castlebar.

The Breaffy House will also be the venue for Bernard Dunnes clash with Cristian Faccio on Saturday, November 15.
