Frankie Borg: I am not worried about Cummings

Frankie Borg fights just minutes from his house when takes on undefeated Conrad Cummings and the Ice Arena in Cardiff on Saturday.

However, considering Cumming’s is a Cyclone Promotions fighter on a nine fight TV broadcast Cyclone show the middleweight is virtually the away fighter.

That doesn’t deter the confident 35 year old, he is claims he is going out to win and isn’t worried by Cumming’s reputation, record or capabilities.

“I’ve seen a few clips of him, not much but I watched him a bit. He’s very strong and he’s a big boy. I know he’s been in the WSB, so they’re good boxers,” Borg told Boxing Wales.

“I’m not worried about him, though. I’m coming to fight like I always do. I’m just looking forward to fighting and getting some action again.”

With a 9-5 record there and considering his age some suggested Borg should retire, while others felt he should take a gimme fight to get back in the swing, but the Welsh puncher is determined to take a scalp in his home town.

“I’m not ducking fighters; I ain’t going to duck no-one. I could have got an easier fight because it’s my home show. I thought my manager would have got me an easier fight but I’m just happy to fight and get going again.

“I live like one mile from the arena; my local Asda is just around the corner. It’s been a while since the last time I fought in Cardiff. I can’t remember but it means a lot to me to be back here.”
