Frampton to go head to head with Quigg on July 18

CARL Frampton goes head to head with Scott Quigg on July 18- not in the ring but in a TV ratings war of such.

‘The Jackal’s’ super bantamweight IBF World title defence against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr will air at the same time as Quigg’s bout with former Frampton foe Kiko Martinez.

The Beflast fighter’s clash is set to be aired on ITV, UTV and UTV Ireland at 9:45 and on American terrestrial TV, while his Bury rivals bout will be broadcast on SKY Sports in and around the same time.

Neither camp or fighter have made a big issue of the clash in TV times, but with ‘draw’ being a big part of negotiations it will be interesting to see the viewing figures of each bout.

With a terrestrial TV backing across America, Britain and Ireland  Frampton  will secure a bigger audience and increase his profile on a World level.

The talented World champion is ‘delighted’ a rare fight out of Belfast will be accessible at home and is exited about the potential to excite fans around the World.

“I am delighted to be once again defending my World Title live on UTV on the 18th of July against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr,” Frampton said.

“It is brilliant news that this fight will be shown live at primetime in the UK and Ireland and live on CBS in the USA.

“Gonzalez Jr. is a young and dangerous Mexican challenger and I am expecting a tough fight.

“I feel I am the best Super Bantamweight in the world and I am excited to box in front of a huge television audience.”
