Four medals for Team Ireland at the Bee Gees tournament

Michael O’Reilly had to settle for silver at the Gee Bee Multi-Nations in Helsinki, Finland this afternoon.

The European Games champion lost the 75kg final to France’s Christian M’Billi-Assomo, the 2014 Gee Bee champion, in a pulsating three-rounder.

The middleweight final was the last bout of the 35th edition of the tournament.

Earlier today, TJ Waite produced a big performance but lost to Russia’s Ovik Ogannisian on a unanimous decision in the 52kg final.

Darren O’Neill ceded a walkover to Kazakh heavyweight Vasilly Levitt in today’s 91kg decider after picking up a facial cut in Saturday’s semi-final win over Italy.

Team Ireland are due to arrive home via Dublin Airport at 10.35pm tomorrow evening, March 14th.
