First fight card of the New Year- Emerald Promotions Feb 3 show

By Jonny Stapleton

Emerald Promotions have announced Ireland’s first boxing show of the New Year.

Irish fans were expecting a fight drought, but the well isn’t completely dry, as the fledging promotional company dip their toe in the dangerous waters that is running shows in Ireland.

The Chris Graham run company will host the first of what they hope will be five 2012 shows on February 3 in the Emerald Road House in Belfast.

Former senior finalist, three time Ulster champion and five time Four Nations medallist Anthony Cacace makes his pro bow on the card.

Another boxer with amateur pedigree Ray Ginley will also debut on the show and will appear along side brother Mark Ginley, Joe Hilerby and Gerard Healy.

Emerald Promotions are also hoping to have Willie Casey on the card and are in talks with ‘Big Bang’ at present.

“We are absolutely delighted to be running a show in Belfast,” Graham told www.irish-boxing.com.

“We have quality boxers and obviously they are the key to our success. You have Anthony and Ray making there debuts and Mark, Joe and Gerard Healy all appearing. We are also talking to the Big Bang and are hoping he will appear on the show. He is looking at possibly facing Kid Gallahad soon and a fight on the February 4 show could keep the cobwebs away,” Graham added before intimating this will not be a one off event.
“We hope to do a lot of shows. We are planning at three – five for next year.”
