European Games draw- Molloy and Nevin up first

Galway welterweight and Laois middle Kieran Molloy and Michael Nevin will be the first Irish boxers in action at the 2nd edition of the European Games in Minsk, Belarus.

The Irish pair meet Northern Macedonia and Team GB in the last 32 of the tournament at the Sports Palace in the Belarusian capital on Saturday.


World and EU Elite champions Kellie Harrington and Kurt Walker received byes into the quarter-finals and last sixteen. Harrington and Walker are seeded No. 1 and No.4 at the 2nd edition of the Games.

No Irish boxers will be between the ropes on the opening day of competition tomorrow.

Regan Buckley, James McGivern and Anthony Browne box Sunday, while Michaela Walsh, also an EU Elite champion, goes head-to-head with Romania on Monday.
