European Championships Draw

Today’s program HERE Bulgaria is two hours ahead of Ireland

Irish captain Darren O’Neill and Dean Gardiner will get Ireland’s campaign underway at the European Elite Men’s Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria today.

Tipperary super-heavyweight Gardner is up first against Abdul Naser Delalic (Bosnia & Herzegovina) in the opening session which begins at 1pm (Irish time) and Kilkenny heavyweight O’Neill meets Lithuania’s Tadas Tamasauskas (Lithuania) in the evening session which begins at 5pm (Irish time).

London 2012 bronze medallist and 2013 European silver medallist Michael Conlan, who is seeded No.1 in the bantam class in Samokov, meets France’s Anthony Brett in his opening bout, while Adam Nolan will be the only Irish boxer in action tomorrow.

Dean Walsh received a bye into the last 16 and awaits an opponent from either Romania or Norway. Joe Ward, the 2011 European Elite champion, faces Russia’s Idris Shakhmonov.
