Big Dean Gardiner up first at European Championships

Irish captain Darren O’Neill and Dean Gardiner will get Ireland’s campaign underway at the European Elite Men’s Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria today.

Tipperary super-heavyweight Gardner is up first against Delalic Abdul Naser (Bosnia) in the opening session which begins at 1pm (Irish time) and Kilkenny heavyweight O’Neill meets Lithuania’s Tadas Tamašauskas (Lithuania) in the evening session which begins at 5pm (Irish time).

The full draw will be available shortly. Gardiner and O’Neill will be the only Irish boxers in action today.
