Birmingham middleweight Tommy Langford had to part with his underwear for the weigh-in ahead of his tilt at the vacant WBO Intercontinental title. Thankfully (or not – depending on one’s outlook), the Brummie’s modesty was spared by a strategically placed hoody provided by irish-boxing.com
Then, in rarely seen before circumstances, his opponent, Mexico’s Julio Cesar Avalos, also had to shed his pants to try squeeze inside the 160lb middleweight limit. While Langford was successful, Avalos was not, and was given an hour to trim the excess weight – which he managed to do.
Langford-Avalos serves as the main support at the National Stadium for Jamie Conlan-headlined ‘New Beginning’ card.
Doors open at the National Stadium at 6pm, first bell is at 6:45pm Tickets are available from ticketmaster.ie. ‘New Beginning: Conlan-Granados’ will also be shown live on Boxnation from 7pm.
